Getting All The Faces In A Portrait

January 01, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

When taking family portraits there are a number of things you need to keep in mind.  One big issues is making sure everyone is in the picture (not hidden behind someone).  Another item is to make sure everyone has their eyes open.  A third big thing is that everyone should have a good expression.  Getting all these in one photo can be tricky especially with larger groups and small children.

In this photos one of the dads moved behind his wife in between takes and three of the children either had their eyes closed or were looking in the wrong direction.  Sometimes you can let Photoshop help you out a bit.

Finally, checking backgrounds and clothing is a must.  Sometimes between the start of a shoot and the end someone will spill a little on their shirt or put a pen back in their pocket.  The photographer must be ever vigilant.
